This print was awarded "Best Use of Contrast" in the Findlay Art League "Black, White and Shades of Gray" Exhibit. The judge has a long list of those academic credentials: Mille Guldbeck is a Full Professor and Area Head of Painting at Bowling Green State University.
And here is what she said about my print:
"I chose a unique and humorous depiction of a local urban scene. The medium was a great choice for a black and white show as relief printing remains crisp and dramatic. I appreciated the fact that the motif was so natural and unaffected and that the subject matter really suited being rendered as a print. The ability to create something quite simple and easy is actually more difficult that the average viewer recognizes. Further inspection of the work reveals the significant time investment in its creation. It may be a diminutive piece, but the size should not allow one to overlook it."
I love that she got the humor and also got that it may look simple, but it really took a lot of work. I could not ask for more or better praise and I just had to share with you all. Thank you for letting me show off.
